Cabinet Cards: Kimono Series

This collection contains 6 note cards and envelopes that playfully expand upon the design elements of the traditional Japanese Kimono.

The front of each card is cultural remix of historical clothing and objects which fuses the pattern and design of each element to create a fantastic reinterpretation of the cabinet card. (The cabinet card was a style of photograph which was widely used for photographic portraiture after 1870.)

Along with Kimonos from the seventeenth through twentieth centuries, you will find antique quilts, botanical prints, a bracelet, comb and blank daguerreotype plates.
